Our long-awaited return to Morocco is getting ever closer. The Maroc Challenge is enthusiastically preparing to celebrate the Winter 2022, which will be the reunion edition, full of high emotions and to be held from December 2 to 10, three years on from the last edition (Winter 2019).
It will be a unique event, alternating established routes with new landscapes that allow participants to fully enjoy the adventure, driving and spirit that has epitomised the Maroc in its 18 previous editions.
The official start will be on December 4 in Midelt, in the middle of the Atlas Mountains, while the final stage will end in Saïdia on the 9th. Midelt and its surroundings, in the main Moroccan apple producing region, will welcome us as we begin this dream. At 1,500 meters above sea level, December is very cold but it is an ideal place from which to head out south. Its great variety of tracks will allow us to enjoy, once again, sensational off road driving.
It will be an appetizer of what to expect from Erfoud onwards, since this Maroc Challenge will have more sand and dunes than ever before, we will pass through all the ergs between this town and Zagora, famous for its delicious dates, also passing by the famous Lake Iriki. We will pass through the Chebbi, Ouzina, Chegaga and more surprises that remain to be decided. The routes, as always, will be adapted to each category.
On the way back, before reaching the Tendrara camp, which has always been very well received by the participants, another of the mythical points we visit will be the Plateau de Rekkam, scene of great rivalries when the Dakar crossed Africa. Saïdia, on the Mediterranean coast, will be the final destination where we can relax and recharge our batteries before the return trip.
