This week sees a new, innovative edition of the Maroc Challenge, with a very demanding itinerary in each of its categories and with the challenge of discovering unforgettable Saharan landscapes and, of course, to put both the participants and their machines to the test.
Following in the tracks of the last Winter edition, the main novelty in terms of itinerary is that this edition begins in Marrakech, the city of the Thousand and One Nights and where the technical and administrative verifications will take place on Saturday.
The first stage of this Spring Edition 2019 will cross the Atlas and enter the Big South all the way down to the city of Zagora.
Sand and dunes will make up a large part of the route, as in recent editions. The desert will be the common denominator from the second stage on, which will start in Zagora, a city that is also known for its delicious watermelons, if you have a chance, give them a try. After venturing into the Sacred Oasis, Lake Iriki and Erg Chegaga, the event will continue on towards Erfoud, not before crossing the impressive Erg Chebbi from south to north, with its spectacular golden dunes.
Teams will then continue north along the old Dakar route to reach the vicinity of Bouarfa, where a typical African camp will be set up for us in Mengoub next to an abandoned train station and where all participants will enjoy an unforgettable night. .
The last stage will take us up to Saïdia, a day in which fast tracks will predominate, taking us all the way up to the Mediterranean, where a good swim will await you… should the April temperatures and rains allow it.
This new edition has been designed for you to live another great adventure and, as usual, no one should expect it to be easy… because it won’t be… We will maintain the same philosophy that has been developed for the Winter edition, with routes adapted to the different types of vehicles, be they 4×2 or 4×4.
Welcome to the adventure.
