We are already preparing for the Spring 2021, which for the first time ever will change its traditional Easter dates for May 28 to June 5.
Rui Cabaço, Maroc Challenge BriefingMan, explains the reasons that led the organization to change dates. “We have set this new date from May 28 to June 5 because we consider we must choose optimum circumstances for the edition to go ahead. Easter 2021 is at the end of March and with the current coronavirus developments, both in Europe and Spain, the usual Easter Week date seems very close and risky” he points out and indicates that “we hope all our participants understand that this is the best option to avoid having to postpone another edition”.
Rui Cabaço also emphasizes that “working in the current situation is a real nightmare. You have to try to make the best decisions to avoid postponing the edition again. This decision allows us to work with a greater time margin and gives us more time to adapt to any new situation that may arise”.
The Spring 2021 will bring new features; among the most outstanding is that it will start and end in Saïdia, most of the routes will feature the desert and include some of the most remote areas of the Alawite kingdom, crossing the entire Rekkam Plateau in a great first stage that will take us to Midelt and later passing through such emblematic areas as Erfoud, Merzouga and Zagora. The now traditional bivouac will take place in Tendrara, after the penultimate stage, finishing once more upon the Mediterranean shores.
We will shortly provide you with more details about the Spring 2021.
